The MMD lab road tripped up to Montreal last week for Multiscale Mechanochemistry and Mechanobiology 2019. This three day, one track, conference is focused on bringing together expertise and techniques in mechanochemistry and mechanobiology. Joy, Michael, Steven, and Yuval each presented posters.
We hosted our annual 4-H Career Explorations University-U activity the last week of June. This year graduate student Michael Buche took the helm and increased the interactive components. Joy and Yuval assisted Michael with facilitating the discussions, design, and testing.
Our study “Enabling Room-Temperature Mechanochromic Activation in a Glassy Polymer: Synthesis and Characterization of Spiropyran Polycarbonate” is now out in the Journal of the American Chemical Society. The manuscript was co-first authored by Yuval Vidavsky and Steven Yang and was in collaboration with the Coates group at Cornell and the Diesendruck group at the Technion. […]
Former MMD lab PhD students Suwon Bae and Naigeng Chen attended the MAE graduation ceremony last month to get officially hooded. Congratulations to both (not only for surviving the PhD but also Silberstein’s first and second hooding)!
Last week Suwon successfully defended his PhD thesis. Here’s the just about to start “action shot” courtesy of Joy.
Undergraduate Allison Rzepka presented her research at the ELI Undergraduate Research Poster Session last week.
Our latest collaborative paper with the Diesendruck group at the Technion is now out in Advanced Functional Materials. “Highly Stretchable Polymers: Mechanical Properties Improvement by Balancing Intra- and Intermolecular Interactions” was co-first authored by soon to defend MMD PhD candidate Suwon Bae and Diesendruck group PhD candidate Or Galant. In this work, Or and Suwon used a combination of […]
