Check out Naigeng’s latest paper in the International Journal of Solids and Structures. In this work extending from the final chapter of his PhD dissertation, Naigeng presents a constitutive model for non-wovens that explicitly includes bond failure as a damage mechanism. This novel contribution to the field build’s on Naigeng’s early PhD work experimentally identifying key non-woven deformation mechanisms and his later work developing a method to experimentally quantify bond strength distributions.

FEA simulation of center crack propagation under y-direction loading performed with the newly proposed non-woven constitutive model.
